Pentecost is a major Christian holiday celebrated 50 days after Easter, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and followers of Jesus in Jerusalem, as described in Acts 2:1–31. Often called the "Birthday of the Church," this event marks the beginning of the Christian mission, empowered by the Holy Spirit enabling the disciples to speak in different languages
